Sweeping Views

To the west and southwest from Vervain’s gently sloping hillside setting, one sees the island of Montserrat (35 miles distant) with its active volcano.  On a very clear day, one can see the low islands of Antigua and Barbuda.  Sunrises over the Atlantic are beautiful, as are moonrises with nearly daylight reflections on the water.  To the south on Nevis one sees Saddle Hill where Lord Horatio Nelson kept a lookout for enemy ships.  Looking up the hill, Mt. Nevis rises gracefully with a few villas dotting the hillside.

Vervain is located in the village of Gingerland and, although the house and grounds are very private, guests will hear the sounds of children and other village activity.  They may also see and hear sheep going across the old stone bridge to pasture in the morning and coming home in the afternoon.
